I enjoyed learning about digital marketing so much, I decided I wanted to know more and at the same time enhance my value in the work place.
Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
I had spent a number of years working in aerial data collection, which we use to update our map data in Ordnance Survey Ireland. It became repetitive and lacked challenge. I looked around at what the rest of the organization was doing, and the Business & Marketing department looked attractive to me. To offer some value to this area, I undertook a course in web design and found that I liked it a lot. This led to an interest in digital marketing and I decided to enhance my skills with a Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing.
What influenced your decision to study digital?
The Digital Marketing Professional Diploma I undertook with the Digital Marketing Institute was an eye opener for me as the fast growing prominence of the field quickly became clear. The course was instructed by people who were at the cutting edge of their respective fields, so the real world applications of what I was learning were many and varied. Beginning this course, I thought that I would come away knowing all I would need to know for my purposes. Although this was largely true, I enjoyed learning about digital marketing so much, I decided I wanted to know more and at the same time enhance my value in the workplace.
Why did you choose to study with the Digital Marketing Institute?
I did my research and looked at all of the various providers in the field of digital marketing. The Digital Marketing Institute's offering stood out in terms of industry practitioners instructing the courses and also the feedback from previous alumni.
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
I still work for Ordnance Survey Ireland in Business & Marketing as the Digital Marketing Executive. My colleagues have the confidence to know that I can take any business objective now and design a digital marketing strategy with a budget that will deliver on that objective. And of course, it gives me the same confidence. In terms of career progression, I know as opportunities arise, my experience, knowledge and digital marketing qualification will place me well for serious consideration.
Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?
It's a stimulating journey that equips you for the connected age of digital marketing. These skills are highly in demand and that's not likely to change anytime soon. I never saw myself completing a Masters and what made that easier than anticipated was the support offered by Digital Marketing Institute, the second to none industry lectures and the top class academic mentoring.
In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?
Inspiring.
