Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
Before the Digital Marketing Institute, I was a recent Trinity College Dublin History of Art graduate. Having worked at my family’s business from a young age, I was always drawn to business and marketing activities I gained some digital marketing experience through a college peer mentor program, interning and content writing, I decided that after my studies, I needed to upskill and hone in on my interest in digital marketing. Before I completed my degree, I was a little unsure of what direction I wanted to take. That’s where DMI came in.
What influenced your decision to study in the digital field?
My interest in the Digital Field partly grew out of a frustration with out-dated and inefficient marketing practices that I used in past work experiences. I believed that a stronger digital strategy could provide more efficient and result focused outcomes; however, I didn’t have the skillset I needed. I was hungry to learn more!
Why did you choose to study the Professional Diploma with the Digital Marketing Institute?
It was an easy decision. The Digital Marketing Institute’s curriculum is industry-approved, the teachers are experts in their field, and I could complete the course at my own pace. There was also a great amount of support from the DMI team. As the Digital Field is constantly changing, I felt satisfied that the curriculum was up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends. Furthermore, the course seemed to provide a solid overview and understanding of digital marketing. This really appealed to me as a student from a non-business background.
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your career progressed?
Since completing the course at DMI, I have joined Wriggle Learning as a marketing executive. Wriggle Learning supports schools throughout Ireland with the implementation of technology for teaching and learning. I have also been brought onto the team to help with the launch of a new brand called Wriggle Jr. The Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing has provided me with the necessary knowledge, tools, practical skills, and confidence to navigate the world of digital marketing, especially in this exciting new startup.
Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?
I would encourage non-business prospective students to apply and to not be intimidated by the Professional Diploma. I remember being hesitant coming from an Arts background, but there is a strong support network and a wealth of resources if you are finding a particular topic a little challenging. Similar to most things, hard work and desire to learn go a long way.
In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?
