Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
Before the Digital Marketing Institute, I attended Waterford Institute of Technology and completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies, also staying on for a Masters. Straight after, I found myself in investment banking for a while and didn’t really enjoy that too much, which prompted a move into a Commercial Planning role for a multinational FMCG company. It was there that I decided on a move into digital and the company was kind enough to help me out financially.
What influenced your decision to study digital?
As well as having a natural interest in all things digital, I honestly just felt that digital was the way everything would be moving in the future. I also noticed that very few companies had in-house digital “experts” as such, so I figured that to have a good digital qualification under my belt would really help my career prospects. I still think there’s a shortage of digital experts in a lot of the larger organisations.
Why did you choose to study with the Digital Marketing Institute?
I did quite a lot of research to make sure I got the best qualification I could – otherwise it’d have been a waste of the company’s money and my time. DMI got rave reviews everywhere I looked and I also had a friend who completed the same course previously, and he highly recommended it. So that’s pretty much how I ended up doing it!
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
My career has really gone in the right direction and I’m not just saying that! I moved to Australia after I completed the course and became a Social and Content Coordinator for an eLearning company. I’ve since moved into a Content Strategist role for a start-up website translation and localization company called Localizer. In my spare time, I guest post for a number of websites and it’s safe to say I wouldn’t have pursued any of this had I not completed the Postgraduate Digital Marketing course.
