Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute
I started working in fund accounting in 2006, but I wanted to change careers to work in an industry that I was massively passionate about. I completed both the Professional Diploma and the Postgraduate Diploma from Digital Marketing Institute while working full-time. I left my accounting job to pursue my new digital marketing career.
What influenced your decision to study digital?
I wanted the opportunity to work for any industry. Because digital marketing is so important for business in general, it’s used across every industry, opening up so many job possibilities. I have a number of different things I would love to achieve in the future.
Why did you choose to study the Professional Diploma with the Digital Marketing Institute?
Studying with DMI gave me the chance to learn from industry leaders and experts. The qualification gives me credibility to employers. I was also able to complete my coursework while working full-time. I did some research on various digital marketing courses before committing, and this one really stood out!
Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?
I am currently working with a start-up company in the wellness industry called Wellclik. My first digital marketing internship was with a company called Clubify. Both companies are based in the NDRC in the Digital Hub. I have learned so much, and it has given me the opportunity to showcase my creativity and run some successful campaigns. I have really enjoyed jumping into this new career, and I hope to find full-time work soon.
Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?
For the courses themselves, make sure you start early. Be organized, and try to gain as much real-life experience as possible. The industry is very experience-oriented, so make sure you try running some campaigns, and use as many tools as possible—especially if you’re new to marketing. Don’t underestimate the hard work you’ll need to do, but also know that it’s worth it!
