Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute

I am a Human Resources (HR) professional with a background in Recruitment and Generalist HR experience. Over time, I’ve become more drawn to the Marketing and Digital agenda and how this can positively impact HR.

What influenced your decision to study in the digital field?

I wanted to update my knowledge in the digital field. I’ve a keen interest in all things digital and really wanted to get a qualification to formalize this knowledge. I realized that the use of social media is becoming more prevalent in HR and thought that the Diploma in Social Media would help to build on this knowledge and add to my credibility in this area.

Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?

I’m currently employed with Irish Life and am involved in their social media strategy for HR.

Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?

Don’t over think it! It can be daunting going back to study when you have other commitments but the qualification is a great stepping stone to your digital career. I’d recommend getting into a pattern of study early on and not leaving everything to the last minute!

In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?

Interesting.

Develop a detailed understanding of key social media specialisms including content marketing (both creation and distribution), and the social media platforms on which you can promote this content.
