Tell us a bit about your experience before the Digital Marketing Institute

I graduated from university with a degree in journalism in 2010 and went on to become a copywriter at a digital marketing agency producing a wide range of content for a variety of clients from different industries and sectors. I then took on the role of digital marketing executive at Carrs Pasties.

What influenced your decision to study in the digital field?

After studying journalism for three years, I saw how the industry was changing, more and more brands were investing time in their online presence, producing more content, creating engaging social media campaigns and measuring what was and was not successful. I wanted to be a part of the journey because I saw how prominent it was becoming.

Why did you choose to study the Professional Diploma with the Digital Marketing Institute?

It offered knowledge on everything that I needed to enhance my skills in digital marketing. I had some knowledge across all sectors but the Digital Marketing Institute offered even more in-depth information that was easy to understand and digest.

Since completing the course in the Digital Marketing Institute, how has your Career progressed?

I currently manage the digital marketing at Carrs Pasties. I'm now able to measure our campaigns and I'm able to use analytics to see the user's journey on our website and to find out which pages need improving and tailoring to customer needs in order to offer the best user experience.

Is there any advice you would give to new students at the Digital Marketing Institute?

Create a revision schedule and stick to it, even if it's an hour or two a night. I used a notebook which had dividers in so I could keep my information organised in one place - I used plenty of highlighters too! The example exam questions are also really useful, but mainly it's just about finding a way of learning that works for you.

In one word, how would you describe your time in the Digital Marketing Institute?

Valuable.
