From a successful digital creative agency in South East Asia, HTTP School entered the digital training market to offer industry aligned qualifications to transform the careers of professionals.

Armed with knowledge and insight gained from leading a digital marketing agency, the founders of HTTP School understand the value of digital qualifications. As analytics and digital strategy specialists, Tzu Ming Chu and CK Wong founded a training company to provide professionals in South-East Asia with industry aligned certifications in digital marketing and selling. 

The Challenge

Over the coming decade in the ASEAN region, mobile internet connectivity, new energy technologies, data analytics along with flexible and remote working are expected to create more jobs across the continent1. Unfortunately, for many professionals working in the region their digital skills are not at the standard required to drive the digital transformation of a business.

“The level of digital skills in Malaysia and the rest of South-East Asia from an adoption standpoint is low and best practices are still not adopted widely. However, there is a lot of interest to gain better skills amongst marketers to ensure career advancement.”

With their corporate clients enquiring about courses that teach specific skills such as Google AdWords and analytics, the demand for digital training amongst organizations presented a unique opportunity.

With that in mind, HTTP School went looking for a certification body that could provide a globally recognized qualification with content that was aligned with industry.

The Solution

Using his knowledge of the digital landscape, Tzu Ming Chu researched digital learning providers across the globe. On entering into discussions the Digital Marketing Institute, the two specialists entered into a partnership to provide current and relevant accredited content that provides students with the skills needed to succeed in a business environment.

“It was a natural extension for us to offer digital education to our clients and certification is an important element of what we wanted from our offering. Students and employers want to spend their training dollars on a reputable program which teaches industry best practices,” stated Chu.

Once focused on classroom-based training, HTTP School wanted to expand into offering an online element through blended learning. This would provide the training company with the opportunity to target a new market of busy and time-starved professionals.

“The online component would help to widen our offering in terms of providing additional resources and access to our students on top of a face-to-face component. Many students are working professionals and they appreciate the flexibility of being able to learn online,”

The Result

A partnership with the Digital Marketing Institute not only provides in-demand professional qualifications for the Malaysian population but has grown the profile of the training company by helping build their reputation as a thought leader in the local digital advertising market.

Graduates of the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing through HTTP School have found the content comprehensive and enjoyed the elements of localization and context in the training modules.

In the future, HTTP School plans to offer the Professional Diploma in Digital Selling to target sales-driven and performance marketing individuals. “A large portion of our client base in our agency falls under this category as many companies are focused on results. We are also allocating resources to expand to other locations outside Malaysia in 2017.”
