Affiliate Marketing

Course Overview

Affiliate marketing is a marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts. Examples include rewards sites, where users are rewarded with cash or gifts, for the completion of an offer, and the referral of others to the site. The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as ‘retailer’ or ‘brand’), the network, the publisher (also known as ‘the affiliate’), and the customer. The market has grown in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including affiliate management agencies, super-affiliates and specialized third party vendors. (Source – Wikipedia).

 

Objectives & Outcomes

The Affiliate Marketing course enables students to develop the knowledge and skills to implement and manage effective Affiliate Marketing campaigns. The course covers the core concepts and terminology associated with Affiliate Marketing, and explores the practical mechanics of Affiliate Marketing, and how campaigns are organised in terms of affiliate networks and publishers, and advertisers and merchant websites.

Participants will appreciate the key benefit of Affiliate Marketing, in terms of reaching a new audience and contextualising their product or service in a new value-added way. Participants will learn about the breadth and range of affiliate networks, and understand how different industry sectors often apply and operate Affiliate Marketing. Participants will develop the key skills and knowledge to set up and manage effective affiliate marketing campaigns that are suitable for their industry sector.

Participants will understand how the Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA) commercial model is applied, and recognise the different marketing tactics used within Affiliate Marketing, including: meta search, discount and voucher codes, email marketing, cash back, blogs, and content. Programme participants will also be aware of data protection, regulatory and privacy issues associated with Affiliate Marketing.
